Taiwan tracked nine naval ships and 71 military aircraft of China on Saturday by 4 p.m., according to Taiwan News.

According to the Ministry of National Defense (MND), it included 45 aircraft that entered Taiwan’s air defence identification zone (ADIZ) from the southwest or crossed the Taiwan Strait middle line.

The J-10, J-11, and J-16 fighter jets, the Xi’an Y-20 transport aircraft, the H-6K strategic bomber, and the KJ-500 early warning aircraft were among the Chinese aircraft types that the MND observed on Saturday, according to Channel News Asia.

President Tsai Ing-wen visited Speaker Kevin McCarthy of the US House of Representatives in Los Angeles on Friday, the day after Beijing planned three days of military drills surrounding Taiwan.

Taiwan News stated that the ministry also released a picture of Navy officers observing the manoeuvres of China’s Maanshan frigate taken from the Cheng Kung-class Chang Chien missile frigate.

The military claimed that in order to track the movements of the Chinese military ships and planes, it dispatched combat aircraft, naval boats, and land-based air defence missile systems.

Taiwan News said that the MND, while accusing China of promoting regional insecurity and instability, declared that the armed forces would step up their alertness and readiness but avoid provocations and escalating tension.

Taiwan protested Chinese military exercises near the island, stating that it would not submit to pressure.
