Indian Army Shoots Down Pakistan Drone Along LoC in Jammu Using Indigenous Anti-Drone System

On April 13, 2025, the Indian Army successfully shot down a Pakistani Army drone near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu area. The Chinese-made drone was attempting to perform reconnaissance when it was found operating near Indian territory.

The Indian Army’s Air Defence forces, stationed in the 16 Corps region south of the Pir Panjal ranges, used the indigenously built and produced ‘Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System’ to eliminate the danger.

This device, designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), can jam, spoof, and kill enemy drones at a variety of ranges and conditions.

The ‘Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System’ has been widely deployed along India’s borders and is armed with a 2-kilowatt laser beam. This laser can efficiently shoot down hostile drones from a distance of 800 to 1,000 metres, making it an important part of India’s counter-drone efforts.

The system’s deployment highlights India’s increasing dependence on domestic military technologies to handle contemporary security problems.

The employment of this anti-drone device is part of a larger campaign by Indian security services to counter opponents’ expanding use of drone technology. Drones have been used by Pakistan-based terrorist groups to transport guns, drugs, and other goods into India, primarily over the LoC and international borders in Jammu & Kashmir.

The efficiency of India’s anti-drone systems has considerably curtailed such actions, as evidenced by the Border Security Force (BSF), which has also established considerable technological monitoring along the Jammu border.

The event demonstrates the Indian Army’s dedication to using new technologies to improve operational capabilities. This includes the recent deployment of ‘Kamikaze’ drones in Jammu and Kashmir to support counter-terrorism operations. These drones are intended to identify, track, and neutralise terrorist threats via precise attacks, hence strengthening India’s regional security position.
