The 12th annual Joint Special Forces Exercise Khanjar between India and Kyrgyzstan will take place at Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan, from March 10–23, 2025.
Elite soldiers from Kyrgyzstan’s Scorpion Brigade and India’s Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) participate in this exercise, which started in 2011 and has since become an annual event that alternates between the two nations.
The main goal is to share best practices and knowledge in special operations and counterterrorism, especially in urban and high-altitude mountainous terrain circumstances.
Under the auspices of a United Nations mission, the training emphasizes advanced skills including mountain warfare, complex building intervention, sniping, and survival methods with the goal of improving the two special forces’ joint operational capabilities and interoperability.
Along with showcasing state-of-the-art indigenous Indian defense weapons, the exercise focuses on creating sophisticated insertion and extraction procedures for troops in combat zones.
In addition to intense military training, the event features lively cultural exchanges, such as the commemoration of the Kyrgyz holiday Nowruz, which enhances the troops’ interpersonal and professional ties and strengthens their bilateral connection.
By tackling common security issues like global terrorism and extremism and bolstering peace, stability, and security in the area, this collaboration represents the expanding strategic engagement between India and Kyrgyzstan.
