The two presidents talked on measures to strengthen commerce, investment, defence, security, renewable energy, cultural, and people-to-people ties as well as the relationship between the two countries.

Earlier, PM Modi received the “Order of Nile,” Egypt’s highest state decoration, from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. PM Modi, who arrived in Cairo on Saturday, paid respects to the Indian soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice during the First World War at Heliopolis War Cemetery after visiting the Al-Hakim Mosque. From June 24 to 25, PM Modi will be in Egypt on a state visit.

In Cairo on Saturday, PM Modi and his Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly participated in a roundtable discussion. During his two days in the Arab country, he also visited with thought leaders in Egypt.

PM Modi and Hassan Allam, CEO of one of the biggest Egyptian businesses operating in the Middle East and North Africa region, had a fruitful conversation. The two leaders talked about how to work more closely with Indian businesses to develop green hydrogen and renewable energy.

The Indian diaspora demonstrated its enthusiasm by singing “Modi Modi” and “Vande Mataram” and waving the Tricolour. To welcome PM Modi, a lot of people performed cultural shows and sung Indian music.
