A new camp is established by ITBP in Chhattisgarh to dismantle the Naxal stronghold.

In an attempt to destroy a Naxal stronghold, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) set up a new camp in Chhattisgarh. This camp is situated in the Abujhmad region of the Narayanpur district, which is well-known for its Naxal activity, at Bedmakoti, about 5 kilometres from Kutul.

According to an official ITBP press release, the creation of this camp is seen as a major victory for the security forces and is in line with the Indian government’s goal to exterminate Naxalism by March 2026.

There have been a lot of activities in the area lately. According to reports from the Bijapur Police, 22 Naxalites were killed in a clash in the Bijapur-Dantewada border area on March 20. Additionally, while performing combing operations in the Abujhamada woods earlier today, two ITBP Jawans were critically injured in an IED detonation.

Since multiple other people were also reported hurt and taken to the Narayanpur District Headquarters Hospital for treatment, this episode serves as a reminder of the continued risks that security officers in these areas confront.

Both sides have suffered fatalities in recent firefights in the Bijapur jungle, where two Maoists were slain, and in the same fighting near Malkangiri, Odisha, an ITBP Jawan was martyred. The situation is still unstable. These incidents highlight the difficulties security personnel in Chhattisgarh still have when fighting Naxal rebels.
