Initial reports state that two to three Pakistani terrorists tried to cross the Line of Control in the Poonch district of Jammu & Kashmir’s Digwar sub-sector.

Security forces stopped an attempt at infiltration along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Monday by shooting at one terrorist and killing another.

Alert soldiers in the district’s Degwar sector spotted several terrorists moving around in the early morning hours as they tried to enter this side under cover of darkness and engaged them in an engagement, according to officials.

Two terrorists who had crossed the Line of Control from the Pakistan side were involved in a gunfire with the security forces during a joint operation by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

One terrorist was killed during the battle, while another was shot at as he attempted to flee back to the Line of Control. After being shot at, he was observed to tumble.

To find the terrorists’ bodies, a search operation was conducted throughout the neighbourhood. The second terrorist may have been killed or injured, but the first terrorist was shot to death.

Muneser Hussian, a terrorist who fled to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) in 1993 and then returned to Jammu & Kashmir in 1996, has been named by the police as the assassin.

Muneser, who had carried out several attacks on the special forces, went back to POK in 1998, two years after his initial departure.

According to police records, his two wife and kids most likely reside in Surankote, Poonch. Muneer Hussain was a close confidant of Syed Salahuddin, the leader of the Hizbul Mujahideen, as well as Maulana Dawood Kashmir.

He recently attended a Hizbul Mujahideen meeting in Islamabad, Pakistan, to discuss reviving the group in Jammu and Kashmir, according to information obtained by India Today.

Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, a defence PRO based in Jammu, claimed that around 2 am, an Army ambush party made touch with terrorists in the Garhi battalion area.

“Two people were seen crossing the LoC in the general vicinity of Degwar Terva. One terrorist was seen dropping during the ensuing firefight, while the second one moved in the direction of Pintu Nala, the officer stated.

According to sources, terrorist organisations with ties to Pakistan were preparing to launch a sizable terrorist strike in Jammu and Kashmir before Independence Day.

Both the International Border in Jammu & Kashmir and the Line of Control have increased security.

In Jammu and Kashmir, there has been a second attempt at infiltration along the Line of Control in the last 24 hours.

One terrorist was killed on Sunday after an attempt at infiltration along the LoC in Kupwara area was thwarted by the Indian Army, according to the police.

According to a police spokesperson, the police and Army together conducted a cordon and search operation in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara’s Dakhen-Amrohi neighbourhood after receiving intelligence regarding potential infiltration efforts.

“Terrorists aiming to infiltrate our side were seen moving during the search operation. The united party engaged them in combat, and one terrorist was eliminated as a result, he claimed.

Two to three other terrorists were able to flee back to the Pakistani side of the LoC by taking advantage of the dense shrubs and difficult terrain, according to the spokesperson.

According to the police spokeswoman, it was thought that the terrorist who was killed was a citizen of Pakistan based on the evidence found at the scene of the encounter.

An AK rifle, an AK magazine, 15 AK rounds, 5 9mm pistols, 1 15mm pistol, 8 pistol magazines, and 32 9mm pistol bullets were among the weapons and ammunition seized.

The spokesperson stated that “the recovery of these materials highlights the nefarious intentions of the infiltrators and their attempts to disturb peace and stability in the region.”
