A gunfight in the forest near Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, involving Greyhounds, Telangana’s force, and Chhattisgarh police, claimed the lives of three Naxalites. Weapons found; search continues. Thirteen people died in the previous confrontation, three of them were women.

According to a senior police source here, three Naxalites were shot and killed during a gunfight with security personnel on Saturday in a thick forest in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, which borders Telangana. He stated that while a team of Telangana’s elite anti-Naxal force, the Greyhounds, were out on an operation, they came across an encounter in the Pujari Kanker forest near the interstate border.

According to him, there was also a Chhattisgarh police team in the vicinity to provide additional assistance to the Greyhounds squad.

“Three Naxalites were killed in the gunfight and weapons were also recovered from the spot,” according to the official.

He said that there is still a search going on in the neighbourhood.

In the Bijapur area of Chhattisgarh, at least 13 Naxalites, including three women, were slain in a clash with police forces earlier this week.
