ARINDAM BAGCHI, THE UN ENVOY FROM INDIA IN GENEVA, MEETS CHIEF TEDROS ADHANOM GHEBREYESUS

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director general of the World Health Organisation, met with Arindam Bagchi, India’s permanent representative to the UN in Geneva, on Tuesday.

Bagchi and the WHO Chief spoke about areas of global health cooperation between the two organisations.

The Permanent Mission of India in Geneva posted on X with the caption, “Strengthening India’s ties with @WHO!”

“PR @abagchimea met DG WHO @DrTedros, to discuss areas of India-WHO collaboration in #GlobalHealth, including Traditional Medicine and Digital Health,” India tweeted from Geneva.

Arindam Bagchi, the spokeswoman for the MEA, was named India’s new Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva earlier in October.

Bagchi met Volker Turk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, on Tuesday in February and they spoke about a number of topics that both of them found interesting.

The Permanent Mission of India in Geneva posted on X, “PR @abagchimea met UN High Commissioner for Human Rights @Volker_Turk”.

“Discussions covered a range of issues of mutual interest, including continued close cooperation with @UNHumanRights,” it stated.
