The Indian armed services have reduced their request for US MQ-9B Predator high altitude long endurance (HALE) armed drones from 30 to 18 platforms, down from the previous requirement of 10.

General Atomics, the company that makes the Predator, is in communication with the central government. According to a news article from Hindustan Times, the contract would be completed with the United States on a government-to-government basis after receiving government permission.

New Delhi would be able to improve its total monitoring system along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the Indian Ocean thanks to this agreement.
