BALUCHISTAN’S GWADAR SEES MASSIVE AGITATIONS AFTER PAKISTANI COAST GUARDS KILL LABOURERS

World News

When a local Baloch labourer was killed by the Pakistani coast guard at sea on Saturday, there was a protest in the Kuntani Hor region of Gwadar, Baluchistan. The Baluchistan Post said that the man was killed by the coast guard after their motorboat collided with his kayak.

It was impossible to retrieve the Coast Guard victim’s lifeless body from the water. Following the incident, the Haq Do Tehreek Baluchistan members issued a call to action for all public servants and officials to congregate close to the district collector’s office in order to demonstrate against the horrific conduct. The story quotes Haq Do Tehreek as saying that the protests by kayakers, pick-up drivers, and Kantani businesspeople are aimed at stopping the murder of low-wage workers in Kuntani.

Further, the demonstrators said that Zehri’s supporters were openly showing off their weapons at the time, and the administration was endorsing them rather than holding the offenders accountable.

Furthermore, the Baluchistan Post story quoted local sources asserting that the police were in negotiations with Bhootani Group members regarding the filing of a First Information story (FIR) against the PPP supporters. The Hub Chowki SP met with a Bhootani group delegation as well.
