According to Khan, the injured were transferred to the hospital at the Khar district headquarters (DHQ) for medical attention.

Nazeer Khan, a Bajaur District Police Officer (DPO), told Dawn that the device went off as the passengers were returning home after Friday prayers. Khan added that an inquiry is being carried out and that the area has been cordoned off by the police.

The ISPR statement was cited by The News International as saying that “security forces are maintaining pressure and clearance operation is underway to apprehend remaining terrorists as well.”

In a related incident, terrorists assaulted the Zhob garrison in Baluchistan early on Wednesday, killing four Pakistani army soldiers and gravely injuring five more, according to Pakistan’s Dawn, which cited the military’s media affairs division.
