The first Chilean head of state to visit India in 16 years, Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font is scheduled to undertake a major state visit from March 30 to April 6, 2025. With an emphasis on trade diversification and investment cooperation with India, the fifth-largest economy in the world, this visit seeks to strengthen Chile-Indian political and commercial ties.

Key government officials, lawmakers, and representatives from a range of industries, including business, education, culture, and agro, will be part of the delegation that will travel with President Boric. Bangalore, Mumbai, and New Delhi are the three main Indian cities where the visit will take place. On April 1, President Boric is expected to meet with Indian leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in New Delhi. A business roundtable with the goal of promoting Chile as a strategic trading partner and investigating new trade prospects will be a major element of this leg.

President Boric will attend high-level talks with agri-food industry leaders in Mumbai and take part in the “Shoot in Chile” campaign, which aims to market Chile as a desirable destination for foreign film projects. His visit will conclude on April 4 in Bangalore at the Innovation Summit, where talks will centre on technology and innovation collaborations between Indian and Chilean businesses.

This visit reflects both countries’ desires for closer cooperation in a number of areas and emphasises a commitment to strengthening bilateral ties through strategic economic cooperation and cultural exchange.
