Concern over Mahrang Baloch’s arrest has been voiced by her relatives. After a long wait, she was finally met by her sister, Nadia Baloch, who threatened to go on a hunger strike if she was not allowed entry. Mahrang called for further nonviolent demonstrations for justice and delivered a message of resiliency. Notably, Nobel winner Malala Yousafzai expressed her support for Mahrang Baloch while drawing attention to the wider abuses of human rights that Baloch’s vulnerable populations must contend with.

Amid claims of state-led violence and repression against activists, the crackdown on protests has brought attention to the Baloch people’s continuous fight for rights and justice.
