DEFENCE REQUIRES FULL SPECTRUM SELF-SUFFICIENCY, PARTICULARLY IN AEROSPACE: DCAS

During an aerospace symposium in Delhi, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit stressed the value of industrial strength and self-sufficiency in defence, particularly in the aerospace sector.

He emphasised the growing importance of self-reliance (‘Atmanirbharta’) in light of international disputes. The goal of the event, which was attended by senior Indian Air Force personnel and representatives of the defence sector, was to revitalise India’s aerospace sector.

In addition, Dixit highlighted India’s long history of producing aeroplanes and emphasised the necessity of user-driven “Atmanirbharta” for its success. SIDM and CAPS co-organized the conference.

Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, the deputy chief of staff of the Air Force, stated on Friday that a country must become “industrially strong” and that full spectrum self-sufficiency is necessary for defence, particularly in the aerospace industry.

Speaking at an international conference here as the keynote speaker, he added that

Many other senior officials of the Indian Air Force and representatives of several top defence industry firms are in attendance at the conference, which is being held at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi Cantonment and is titled “Energising Indian Aerospace Industry: Challenges for ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat'”.

“Every nation aspires to ‘atmanirbhar,’ or self-reliance. And we are seeing that it is getting more and more relevant in light of the two wars that are going on in the world right now,” Air Marshal Dixit stated.

His comments are made against the backdrop of the conflicts between Israel and Hamas and Russia and Ukraine.

He underlined the ‘Atmanirbharta’ that the IAF needs and the difficulties the force is currently facing as it moves forward.

“We need to develop our industrial strength. Full spectrum self-sufficiency is necessary for defence, particularly in the aerospace industry.”
