The 25-year agreement, which will be reviewed every three years, will aid in the facilitation of transdisciplinary directed fundamental and practical research in the research fields of high energy material design and development.

During the signing of the contract, Dr. V Kameswara Rao, Director of the DIA-CoE at the University of Houston, noted that several items were created at the centre and handed to the DRDO Laboratories during the third phase, which ran from December 2016 to February 2023. Some of these products are still being used by the DRDO in its projects.

He claims that the centre has a top-notch infrastructure for conducting high-energy material (HEM) research and development. The University of Hawaii, TIFR, and the DRDO Laboratories all made use of these facilities.

The institute expressed confidence that its strengths in research and development would aid in the growth of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
