EU Commissioners Take ‘Hydrogen Bus’ To Bilateral Talks Venue In Delhi With Ursula Von Der Leyen

A bus powered by hydrogen fuel cells brought European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and her commissioners to the Hyderabad House in New Delhi in a symbolic act highlighting their dedication to renewable energy.

TATA Motors and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) collaborated to create this environmentally friendly car, underscoring the importance of green energy solutions in India-EU negotiations.

With high-level discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration in crucial areas including trade, technology, investment, security, and green energy, the visit represented a critical turning point in India-EU ties. The visit, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi called “quite unique,” demonstrated the two sides’ unprecedented level of engagement.

Among the topics discussed were bolstering investment frameworks, improving collaboration in vital industries like semiconductors and artificial intelligence, and concluding a bilateral free trade deal by the end of the year.

In addition to strengthening economic ties, the visit centered on strengthening security cooperation, especially the EU’s strategic shift in engagement in the region with its decision to join the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative.

Furthermore, acknowledging India as a reliable friend and strategic ally, the EU reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its partnership with India in the face of global geopolitical concerns.
