For high-precision PNT services, VyomIC will construct the first private GPS constellation in India.

Founded by IIT-Madras alumni, VyomIC is a space start-up based in Chennai that intends to construct India’s first private global satellite constellation in order to offer high-precision Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) services.

With the goal of providing centimeter-level positioning and nanosecond-level timing accuracy—both essential for applications in autonomous systems, finance, defense, and telecommunications—this program represents a major advancement in India’s space and navigation technology industry.

BYT Capital and DeVC have joined Speciale Invest in successfully raising USD 1.6 million in pre-seed finance for the start-up. The money will be used to support spaceborne demonstration missions, scale the team hiring and business development activities, and develop VyomIC’s low Earth orbit (LEO)-based PNT payload. The audacious vision of a sovereign, next-generation global navigation system designed for precision, security, and autonomy is reflected in this investment round.

In contrast to conventional GPS systems that function at higher orbits, VyomIC places a strong emphasis on establishing a constellation using low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. In urban and signal-contested situations, the LEO constellation promises improved coverage, faster convergence times, and increased signal power.

Their system’s capacity to provide indoor PNT, which is currently a restriction of existing GNSS systems like GPS and GLONASS, makes it possible to navigate within previously inaccessible structures and restricted places.

A key component is security; VyomIC’s technology is made to address flaws in the present global navigation satellite systems, like jamming and spoofing. Their technology is designed to be extremely robust, offering spoofing-proof and jamming-resistant signals that are essential for applications in the critical infrastructure and defense sectors where safe and dependable navigation is a must.

Anurag Patil, Vibhor Jain, and Lokesh Kabdal, the founders of VyomIC, have experience with cutting-edge technological projects such as commercial drone swarm deployments and India’s student-led hyperloop project. Vibhor Jain emphasized that the company is working to develop a next-generation system that tackles autonomy, security, and precision globally rather than just developing an Indian substitute for GPS.

Launching a complete constellation that will provide safe, real-time navigation and timing services to users worldwide is part of VyomIC’s long-term vision. The basis for independent systems and sovereign infrastructures that are necessary for the future of the economy and national security will be laid by this project.

With a strong technical team and significant financial support, VyomIC’s proposal to build India’s first private GPS constellation is set to transform the PNT environment by offering improved precision, security, and innovative features including indoor navigation. This initiative highlights India’s rising prominence in the commercial sector for space technology innovation.
