Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasised the significance of India’s position on the international scene on Wednesday, saying that the country is rightfully recognised as a “consensus builder” when it comes to addressing issues and guiding the course of international discourse.

Greece, he added, may serve as a mediator between India and Europe because of its close closeness in terms of geography, culture, and politics.

He remarked, “I touched a little earlier on the growing importance of India’s role on the international stage,” in his speech on the first day of the Raisina Dialogue. In the Global South, it is the most advanced democracy. India is often considered, and rightfully so, as a leader in solving the major challenges and reshaping the global discourse.

“The volume of our bilateral trade is on an upward trend, but we have agreed with Prime Minister Modi that we need to do much more and we need to set a target to double it by 2030…” he stated.

PM Modi and visiting Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a “productive meeting” earlier in the day on Wednesday. The conversations, which covered a number of important topics, emphasised the mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Greece and India.

The leaders highlighted the necessity of working together to strengthen cooperation in important areas including defence, connectivity, and shipping. A recurring feature that reflected the common goal of progress and expansion was the dedication to promoting innovation and technological improvements.
