Indian Air Force and Army Seek ₹20,000 Crores Key DAC BrahMos Missile Deal Get to know

At a forthcoming Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting on March 20, 2025, the Indian Army and Air Force are expected to discuss a major deal for about 250 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, valued at about ₹20,000 Crores.

Rajnath Singh, the minister of defense, will preside over this meeting, which will be attended by senior officials and important military figures. The 300-kilometer-range BrahMos missile, which was created by India and Russia working together almost thirty years ago, is named after the rivers Brahmaputra and Moscow.

Compared to the Air Force, the Indian Army is anticipated to receive a greater proportion of these missiles. The refit of a submarine and the purchase of ship-launched torpedoes and anti-aircraft missiles are among the other significant issues that the DAC will discuss. India has prioritized deals with substantial Indian content and stressed independence in defense procurement in recent years.

Notably, India has started exporting BrahMos missiles; recent sales to the Philippines represent a significant turning point in the country’s defense export policy.

This agreement positions India as a competitive player in the global defense market in addition to improving its military capabilities.
