According to various sources, the Indian government has approved a big deal to purchase 26 Rafale-M fighter jets from France for between ₹63,000 crore and ₹65,000 crore.
The Indian Navy’s operational capabilities will be improved by this purchase, especially from its domestic aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant. In addition to four twin-seater trainers and 22 single-seater Rafale-M jets, the deal also includes related equipment like weapons, simulators, spare parts, and logistical support.
The Indian Navy’s current MiG-29K fighters are significantly inferior to the Rafale-M aircraft. They are an essential part of the Navy’s fleet because they provide electronic warfare systems, sophisticated avionics, and improved maneuverability.
The jets will greatly increase India’s maritime strike capabilities, particularly in disputed areas like the South China Sea and the Strait of Malacca. They are built for carrier-based operations.
