India’s Navy Chief Says China Is Being Vigilantly Monitored in the Indian Ocean

Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, the chief of the Indian Navy, stated that India is keeping a careful eye on China’s expanding influence in the Indian Ocean. To make sure that Indian interests in the area are not jeopardised, the Navy closely monitors the actions of the Chinese PLA Navy, particularly their research and combat ships.

This increased watchfulness is a component of India’s larger plan to counter possible threats from its neighbours, such as the unexpected expansion of the Pakistan Navy, which is heavily backed by China.

China’s larger goal of becoming a major maritime force is thought to be reflected in its growing naval presence in the Indian Ocean. In addition to conducting military operations, the PLA Navy also operates research vessels that measure ocean conditions in order to help with submarine operations in the future.

Admiral Tripathi emphasised the long-standing, more than 20-year-old maritime cooperation between China and Pakistan. Pakistan’s naval capabilities have been greatly enhanced by this alliance, especially after 2009. Important facets of this partnership include:

Pakistan has received significant maritime equipment from China, including three

A larger strategic alliance aiming at reducing India’s power in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) includes this agreement. Pakistan’s naval presence is strengthened with China’s assistance, which is essential for both nations’ regional interests. India keeps a careful eye on these developments to maintain its maritime security and regional dominance, and the relationship plays a part in the geopolitical dynamics in the IOR.

Furthermore, India is concerned about China’s strategic investments in ports across the Indian Ocean, such Gwadar in Pakistan, since they may be used to strengthen China’s naval might in the area.

Admiral Tripathi underlined that India has an efficient system in place to keep an eye on and react to maritime activity in spite of these difficulties. The Indian Navy is still on guard.
