The Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) in Pune is hosting the “Know Your Army Mela 2025” from January 3–5, 2025. The Indian Army’s Southern Command is hosting this event with the goal of connecting with the public and showcasing the army’s operational and technological capabilities.
A vast array of military hardware is on display at the expo, including:
T-90 tanks, 155 MM Bofors cannons, and K-9 Vajra howitzers are among the exhibits.
Air Defense Systems: On exhibit are weapons including improved Schilka systems and Akash missiles.
The Mela draws a diverse audience, including families and schoolchildren, and many attendees expressed excitement about seeing military equipment up close for the first time, with some hoping to join the armed forces after their experience. The event features martial arts demonstrations, including traditional performances like Gatka by soldiers of the Punjab Regiment and Kalaripayattu, showcasing the cultural heritage of Indian martial arts. Swarm drones and robotic dogs demonstrate the latest in military technology, and visitors have the chance to interact with army personnel, explore various weapon systems, and take part in hands-on activities. Informational boards offer insights into each displayed item.

“Such events offer citizens a rare opportunity to engage with Army personnel and explore the advanced technologies that bolster the Army’s strength,” said Chief Minister Fadnavis, who praised the effort. He underlined the value of these gatherings in strengthening ties between the Army and the general population and encouraging pride and unity.
