Paris: As India celebrates its 74th Republic Day, French President Emmanuel Macron sent best wishes for the occasion to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed his eagerness to set new goals for the G20 and the bilateral “strategic partnership” between France and India.

“I send my warmest greetings to the Indian people and my dear friend @NarendraModi as they celebrate Republic Day. As our Indo-French strategic partnership turns 25 this year, I look forward to us setting new goals for the G20 and for it “said Macron in a tweet.

It’s interesting to note that on Twitter, Macron also wished Happy Republic Day in Hindi.

India is fervently commemorating its 74th Republic Day. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the president of Egypt, attended the parade as the chief guest. India formally ratified its Constitution on this day, 74 years ago, following its Independence.

In the meantime, the Indian Embassy in France observed Republic Day, and Ambassador Jawed Ashraf occasionally read aloud the President’s address to the country while raising the flag.
