The northern border region had been tranquil, and steps had been taken to keep it that way through established protocols and existing mechanisms.

According to Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande, the Indian Army is maintaining a strong defence posture along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and is prepared to cope with any situation.

In his address to the Army Day celebrations in Bangalore, which marked the first time the event was conducted outside of New Delhi, he stated that the northern border region had been quiet and that actions had been taken to maintain peace through established procedure and existing mechanisms.

Concerning the situation along the western border, the army chief stated that the ceasefire had been maintained at the LOC and that violations had decreased significantly. However, he claims that terror infrastructure persists on the other side of the border.

“Our counter-insurgency machinery is effectively foiling Pakistani infiltration bids,” he continued.

General Pande said counter-drone jammers were being used to transport weaponry and drugs into Jammu and Punjab’s border regions via drones.

“Our focus is also on establishing goodwill and carrying out development projects that will allow us to integrate the local populace,” he said.

General Pande stated that the situation in the Northeast had improved and that the army had played an important role in reducing violence. According to him, many insurgent factions have entered the peace process.
