MKU Limited has successfully delivered its Kavro Doma 360 ballistic helmet to the Indian Army, representing a substantial development in troops’ personal protection equipment. This discovery was acknowledged by business representatives at the Aero India 2025 event.
The Kavro Doma 360 helmet has been formally entered into service and is presently being tested internationally. It is designed to provide protection against several high-calibre threats, including AK-47-fired 7.62×39 mm mild steel core (MSC) bullets, 7.62×51 mm, and 5.56×45 NATO rounds. Notably, the helmet has a back facial signature (BFS) of less than 20 mm, reducing blunt impact injuries, which is an important element for military safety.
The helmet is intended to be lightweight and comfortable for extended usage.
It is designed to endure a variety of climatic conditions and chemical exposures.
Engineered to efficiently absorb shocks and protect against collisions.
This capability enables integration with night-vision devices, communication systems, and other tactical equipment, offering more mobility in combat settings.
The high-cut combat variant weighs roughly 1.45 kg, while the advanced combat version weighs about 1.8 kg.
The helmet provides homogeneous protection over five zones of the head without the need for extra armour, establishing a new level in ballistic protection technology.
MKU Limited designed the Kavro Doma 360 ballistic helmet, which distinguishes out in the market for its sophisticated protective features and lightweight design. Here’s how it stacks up against comparable ballistic helmets in terms of protection and weight.
The Kavro Doma 360 is the world’s first helmet to provide consistent protection against high-caliber threats, especially rifle bullets such as the AK-47, M80 NATO BALL, and M193 rifle. It has been thoroughly tested to withstand hits in five zones of the head without the need for extra armour, which is a substantial improvement over many traditional helmets that may not provide such comprehensive protection.
This helmet has a unique boltless shell that decreases the chance of penetration during impacts and enhances protective area against AK-47 assault rifles by 40% over ordinary helmets. Most standard helmets include bolts, which might result in weak areas.
The Kavro Doma 360 maintains a BFS of less than 20 mm, significantly minimizing blunt impact trauma from high-energy bullets. This is a critical metric for assessing the risk of injury due to helmet deformation upon impact.
The Kavro Doma 360’s HCH Small model weighs around 1.45 kilogrammes. This weight is competitive when compared to other sophisticated ballistic helmets, which are frequently heavier due to additional armour or structural components.
The Kavro Doma 360’s lightweight design and exceptional protection characteristics make it a top choice in current ballistic helmets, especially for military applications where comfort and safety are critical.
MKU intends to meet the Indian Army’s request for about 80,000 ballistic helmets, with aspirations to expand its market reach to European and American defence contracts as well. This project not only demonstrates India’s rising self-reliance in defence industry, but it also marks a substantial advancement in troop safety technologies worldwide.
