PM Modi returned to India on Sunday after his first State visit, which included stops in the US and Egypt.

PM Modi used his Twitter account to post snippets from his first trip to Egypt. The movie documents his entry into the African nation, his meetings with Mostafa Madbouly of Egypt and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, as well as his interactions with Indian diaspora people.

PM Modi shared the video on Twitter and added the tag, “My visit to Egypt was a historic one. The people of both of our countries will gain, and it will give India-Egypt relations new life. I appreciate the love shown to me by Egypt’s President @AlsisiOfficial, the government, and the people.

In addition, PM Modi praised his Egyptian colleague Mostafa Madbouly for travelling with him to the Egyptian Pyramids. “I thank PM Mostafa Madbouly for accompanying me to the Pyramids,” he wrote in a tweet. We had a fruitful conversation about the shared cultural heritages of our countries and how we may further our ties in the future.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian government and people for bestowing upon him the Order of the Nile, the highest state accolade bestowed by Egypt. According to him, receiving this accolade demonstrates Egypt’s “warmth and affection” for both India and its citizens.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi received Egypt’s highest state distinction from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. It was the thirteenth state honour of its kind to be given to him.

PM Modi has won numerous international honours over the past nine years, including the Ebakl Award from the Republic of Palau, the Companion of the Order of Logohu, and the Companion of the Order of Fiji.

PM Modi and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Sunday and agreed to upgrade their bilateral relationship to a “Strategic Partnership” during their meeting. The two presidents talked about measures to strengthen bilateral ties through commerce, investment, security, defence, renewable energy, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties.

Arindam Bagchi, a representative for the Ministry of External Affairs, tweeted information about the meeting: “PM @narendramodiheld a productive meeting with President @AlsisiOfficial in Cairo on June 25, 2023.” The leaders talked about ways to strengthen bilateral ties in areas like commerce and investment, security and defence, renewable energy, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties. The leaders signed an agreement to upgrade the two-way partnership to a “Strategic Partnership”. Also signed were three Memorandums of Understanding in the areas of agriculture, archaeology & antiquities, and competition law.

PM Modi went at Cairo’s Al-Hakim Mosque earlier in the day. After visiting the Al-Hakim Mosque, PM Modi paid respects to the Indian soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice during the First World War by visiting the Heliopolis War Cemetery.

In Cairo on Saturday, PM Modi and his Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly participated in a roundtable discussion. During his two days in the Arab country, he also visited with thought leaders in Egypt. PM Modi began a two-day State visit to Egypt on Saturday when he arrived in Cairo.
