Three individuals who were allegedly preparing to “commit terror activities in India” were taken into custody by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Thursday, close to the Nepali border, according to officials.

According to the statement, the accused are Sayyed Gajnafar, a native of Islamabad, Mohammad Altaf Bhatt, a resident of Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and Nasir Ali, a citizen of Jammu and Kashmir.

The notification also stated that the three were taken into custody near the border between India and Nepal in the Maharajganj area of Sonauli.

In Kathmandu, Altaf Bhatt met Gajnafar, from whom they obtained fake Indian documents, including Adhaar cards. After thereafter, according to the statement, they met Ali, who was assigned the job of transporting Bhatt and Gajmafar to Kashmir via the border between India and Nepal.

“Mohammad Altaf Bhatt informed ATS officials that he received training at a Muzaffarabad-based Hizbul Mujahideen camp with ISI sponsorship, with the goal of freeing Kashmir from Indian rule. According to the statement, Bhatt was travelling to Jammu and Kashmir at the ISI’s request in order to carry out terrorist operations.

According to the officials, the ATS seized counterfeit passports, Indian documents, and Pakistani documents.

Under Sections 420 (cheating), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 121A (waging or attempting to wage war or abetting waging of war, against the Government of India) of the Indian Penal Code, a formal complaint has been filed against the three individuals.
