Members of Dera Murad Jamali’s Hindu community and traders staged a protest in the streets amid mounting indignation, denouncing the kidnapping of Priya Kumari, a young girl, and calling for immediate action to ensure her safety, Dawn said.

Protesters expressed their anger at the Sindh government’s apparent incapacity as they criticised its inability to find and save Kumari, who was kidnapped from Sukkur only a few days prior.

With signs in hand, protesters pointed out the worsening security circumstances for minority religions in Sindh and angrily decried what they called the regular kidnapping of defenceless youngsters, according to Dawn.

The demonstration, which was led by prominent members of the Hindu community Mukhi Manak Lal and Seth Tara Chand, attracted people from different walks of life.

Traders’ representative Taj Baloch, JI’s youth wing’s Liaqat Ali Chakar, wholesale market president Mir Jan Mengal, Molana Nawabuddin Domki, Khan Jan Bangulazi, and Harpal Das were among the notable attendees.

The leaders appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to act swiftly and decisively to guarantee the girl’s safe return and to provide justice to the minority community. They threatened to stage widespread protests if their demands were not met.
