Rajnath Singh warns Pakistan that a misadventure in Sir Creek may alter history and geography; one route to Karachi passes across the creek.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has given a strong warning to Pakistan against any aggression or misadventure in the Sir Creek region. Singh, speaking at a military installation near Bhuj in Gujarat during Dussehra celebrations, declared that any Pakistani intervention in this disputed area will be greeted with a “resounding response” powerful enough to change “history and geography.”

He emphasized the strategic importance of Sir Creek, stating that one route to Karachi is through this 96-kilometer-long tidal estuary between Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch and Pakistan. Singh recalled the Indian Army’s capability during the 1965 war when it reached Lahore, emphasizing that Pakistan should be aware of India’s military power and preparedness in 2025.

The defence minister criticized Pakistan’s objectives in the Sir Creek issue, which has lasted 78 years after independence. India has consistently sought settlement through conversation, but Singh cited Pakistan’s “flawed and unclear” intentions, as indicated by the recent buildup of military infrastructure near Sir Creek. This buildup indicates aggressive posturing, causing India to remain cautious along the border, with the Indian Army and Border Security Force coordinating their efforts.

Singh also mentioned “Operation Sindoor,” India’s military reaction to the Pahalgam terror attack by Pakistan-backed organizations, which began in May 2025. The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled regions and was characterized by precision, non-escalatory missile and air attacks, achieving all goals without escalating the conflict.

During this operation, Pakistan attempted an unsuccessful penetration of India’s defense system that stretched from Leh to Sir Creek. Indian forces successfully exposed Pakistan’s air defence system, displaying India’s ability to inflict significant damage on the foe when necessary.

Singh attributed the operation’s success to the combined efforts of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, emphasizing India’s armed forces’ coordination and capabilities as the “three pillars” of national strength.

He emphasized that firearms are not just means of power, but also instruments for defending righteousness and national security. His remarks conveyed a message of strength, moderation, and willingness to defend India’s sovereignty and security interests.

Rajnath Singh’s warning to Pakistan about Sir Creek sends a strong message that India is determined and prepared to respond decisively to any threats in this sensitive and crucial border area, while also continuing its broader campaign against cross-border terrorism.
