Shehbaz Sharif, who visited Chinese engineers working on the dam project in DaSU, after the deadly suicide attack

World News

Chinese engineers working on the Dasu Dam project met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a visit to Dasu, in the Upper Kohistan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Jiang Zaidong, according to Radio Pakistan.

Sharif provided clear instructions for immediate action to significantly improve worker security during his visit on Monday.

This comes days after a suicide attack on March 26 that murdered five Chinese engineers and their Pakistani driver as they were travelling from Islamabad to a hydroelectric dam construction site in Dasu, northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The vehicle was targeted in the Bisham city in KP’s Shangla district, Dawn reported on Monday.

The incident that took place in Bisham was one of many that happened quickly.

Dawn claims that this series included earlier events at the Gwadar Port Authority Complex and the Turbat naval facility, which are essential to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The series of attacks highlighted the growing security apprehensions over Chinese troops and projects in Pakistan.

China demanded security for its citizens and a comprehensive investigation into the devastating bombing in response to the Bisham assault. As Dawn reported, Islamabad retaliated by announcing a prompt investigation to bring the “perpetrators and accomplices” to justice.

The bus was attacked on the Karakoram Highway while it was travelling from Islamabad to Kohistan, according to the authorities. According to Bisham Sub Divisional Police Officer, “It was a suicide attack on the Chinese convoy and an explosive-laden vehicle approaching from Kohistan hit the bus.”

“I want to assure you that the government of Pakistan will not leave any stone unturned, will not spare any opportunity to make sure you get the best possible security for your families and yourself, and that nothing will be left to chance.” In Dasu, Shehbaz Sharif stated

He went on to say that although he knew his words would be tested, they were “our commitment to you.”
