On January 13–14, 2025, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will make his first official trip to Spain in this role. He will address bilateral relations and other regional and international matters of shared interest with Spain’s leadership, particularly Foreign Minister Manuel Albares, during his visit.
Building on the momentum created during Spanish President Pedro Sanchez’s October 2024 visit to India, Jaishankar will meet with Spanish authorities to assess and improve collaboration in a number of sectors.
On October 28, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and President Pedro Sanchez of Spain jointly opened the C-295 Final Assembly Line (FAL) Plant in Vadodara. Being the first private sector assembly line for military aircraft in India, this facility, which was created by Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) in partnership with Airbus Spain, marks an important milestone.
According to the two presidents, this visit has revitalized the two nations’ bilateral relationship, giving it new life and paving the way for a new era of improved collaboration in a number of areas. Additionally, they were pleased with the development of the two countries’ relationship since Prime Minister Modi’s 2017 visit to Spain.
Additionally, he will speak at the 9th Annual Conference of Spanish Ambassadors, which will serve as a forum for discussion on global affairs.
Meetings with the Indian community in Spain are part of the tour, which aims to strengthen ties and provide assistance to expats.
This visit is important because it aims to deepen India-Spain relations, namely in the areas of defense and security cooperation and wider economic alliances.
