The Asian Development Bank grants Pakistan a loan of ₹330 million.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) granted Pakistan a USD 330 million loan to fund its Integrated Social Protection Development Program (ISPDP). ADB Country Director Emma Fan and Economic Affairs Secretary Dr. Kazim Niaz signed this agreement. Enhancing institutional capacity and expanding access to vital services like healthcare and education are the goals of the funding, especially for vulnerable groups like low-income women and children.

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and other current programs will be strengthened by the ISPDP, which aims to improve Pakistan’s social protection institutions. With an emphasis on reducing poverty among low-income women and their families, this increased funding will support the growth of grassroots social protection initiatives. According to ADB officials, the initiative is essential for fostering inclusive growth, lowering poverty, and enhancing access to nutrition supplies and medical care for those living in disaster-prone areas.

Emma Fan underlined ADB’s dedication to helping Pakistan advance climate-resilient, adaptable social protection systems and strengthen social safety nets. Significant progress has already been made in expanding underprivileged populations’ access to health and education services through the ISPDP.
