The Coast Guards of India and Indonesia Meet for the Second Time at a High Level in New Delhi

On January 27, 2025, the Indonesian Coast Guard (Badan Keamanan Laut Republik Indonesia, BAKAMLA) and the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) held their second high-level meeting at the Coast Guard Headquarters in New Delhi.

General Paramesh Sivamani, Director General of the ICG, and Vice Admiral Irvansyah, Chief of BAKAMLA, co-chaired this meeting. Sivamani led an eight-member delegation that traveled to India from January 24 to 28, 2025.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Maritime Safety and Security Cooperation was extended for a further three years by both parties during the meeting. The talks centered on improving operational cooperation in crucial domains like:

The ICG sent the ship Shaunak to Jakarta from January 27 to January 30, 2025, as a major gesture to deepen relations and promote operational ties with BAKAMLA. The MoU’s renewal demonstrates both countries’ dedication to addressing regional maritime issues and maintaining a safe and cooperative maritime environment.
