Selected candidates would be enrolled in the Agnipath programme as Agniveers for a four-year period. Agniveers will enter society as a disciplined, dynamic, and talented workforce for employment in various industries after a 4-year term. Agniveers will be given the option to apply for a permanent cadre based on organisational needs. Up to 25% of Agniveers will be chosen for regular cadre enlistment in the armed forces.

According to the PRO (Defence), Srinagar, “To mark this historical event, a befitting ceremony was organised at the Nongrum Auditorium of the JAK LI Regimental Centre, which was witnessed by their parents and mentors who were part of their 31-week-long training journey.”

In April of this year, the Ministry of Home Affairs decided to reserve 10% of the 1,29,929 sanctioned general duty constable positions in the Central Reserve Police Force for former Agnives.

The Central Government hereby promulgates the following regulations as an exercise of the authority granted by subsection (1) of section 18 of the Central Reserve Police Force Act, 1949 (66 of 1949), and in replacement of the Central Reserve Police Force Group ‘C’ (General Duty/Technical/Tradesmen) Cadre Recruitment Rules, 2010, with the exception of actions taken or omitted to be taken prior to such supersession.
