Three Indian touts and seven illegal Bangladeshi nationals were detained by the Border Security Force (BSF) on February 7, 2025, close to the Murshidabad border in West Bengal.
Near the Jalangi outpost, a BSF patrolling party from the 146th Battalion observed a group of infiltrators trying to enter Bangladesh.
Two Bangladeshis were apprehended by the troops, but the others managed to flee.
Five additional Bangladeshi accomplices and an Indian tout from Madhubana village were found during interrogation. By having one of the Bangladeshis who had been arrested call the first tout and reassure him that they were safe, the BSF managed to trap him.
The five fugitive Bangladeshis were located by the tout and captured in a banana plantation close to Gopalpur Ghat.
The other two participants were lured in by the captured tout.leads to a rendezvous at Chichinia More, where they were apprehended by BSF officers posing as Bangladeshi infiltrators.
Each person was being charged ₹7,000 by the touts to enter the country illegally.
One of the touts tried to use a sharp object to attack BSF officers during the arrest, but was restrained. In a different incident that same evening, BSF officers discovered a critically injured Bangladeshi national in Bajitpur, Murshidabad, who subsequently passed away. According to sources, there have been criminal activities in the area, and a disagreement between criminal associates may have led to the death.
On January 17, 2025, three citizens of Bangladesh were taken into custody in the Hanskhali neighborhood of Nadia district as part of a police operation to combat unlawful infiltration. Additionally, a bear cub that had been smuggled from Bangladesh was rescued in the North 24 Parganas district, and two Indian nationals were arrested.
