During the second India-US Defence Acceleration Ecosystem (INDUS-X) Summit held in the nation’s capital, the Ministry of Defence and the US Department of Defence talked about improving military interoperability to support the idea of a free and open Indo-Pacific.

Speakers at the meeting on Wednesday discussed ways to jointly develop cutting-edge military capabilities and robust defence supply networks.

The original INDUS-X collaboration agenda served as inspiration for a number of the themes that panellists expanded on, including strengthening defense-industry partnerships, expanding access to collaborative research and testing facilities, raising private capital to support vital defence technologies, and commercialising dual-use technologies. In addition, the governments oversaw a hybrid information session on export controls for defence startups in the US and India that seek to collaborate and co-develop technologies,” according to the US Department of Defence

Ten US and Indian firms were awarded over USD 1 million to develop technology linked to undersea communications and maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) after a competitive procedure backed by both governments and military service partners.

The announcement stated that DIU and iDEX also revealed at the Summit that they will be opening submissions for two collaborative challenges centred on space-based ISR in the upcoming months.

US businesses, academic institutions, and nonprofits have formed a new alliance dedicated to increasing access to testing facilities.

The partnership will investigate ways to test, hone, and integrate technology at top testing ranges in the US and India for defence and dual-use industries within the INDUS-X network.

The Summit included a gathering of the two INDUS-X advisory groups.
