From December 20 to 22, 2024, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is scheduled to travel to Mauritius. In light of the recent establishment of a new government in Mauritius headed by Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, this visit is noteworthy as it represents the first high-level bilateral interaction between India and Mauritius.
India’s dedication to deepening its links with Mauritius, which are based on a shared history and culture, is demonstrated by the trip. Additionally, it supports India’s larger foreign policy objectives that focus on collaboration with the Global South, like the Africa Forward program and Vision SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region).
As a sign of how much India values its collaboration with Mauritius, Misri is anticipated to participate in talks during this visit that will advance bilateral relations in a number of areas.
