While in India, the Greek FM discusses the IMEC Corridor: MEA and reviews bilateral ties with EAM Jaishankar.

In an effort to strengthen strategic ties between the two countries, Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis traveled to India in early February 2025. External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar met with Gerapetritis during the visit to talk about enhancing the diverse partnership between Greece and India.

The Ministers talked about trade, investment, connectivity, shipping, culture, mobility, and artificial intelligence as they examined bilateral ties and the status of projects under the strategic partnership.

Gerapetritis emphasized Greece’s strategic location as India’s closest entry point to Europe in their discussion of the IMEC with Jaishankar. Jaishankar emphasized that the next stage of India-Greece relations would place a strong emphasis on the IMEC and India-Mediterranean connectivity.

India will back Greece’s bid to join the UN Security Council in 2025–2026 as a non-permanent member, Jaishankar promised. As an elected member of the UNSC, Gerapetritis reaffirmed Greece’s dedication to furthering the Maritime Security Agenda.

Both parties committed to strengthening their collaboration in the shipping industry and advancing people-to-people diplomacy via tourism, culture, and education. Additionally, Greece intends to open two new consulates in Bangalore and Mumbai.
