White House Press Secretary: “He Has Ended Wars, Like India And Pakistan” Regarding President Trump’s International Initiatives

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized President Donald Trump’s foreign policy accomplishments during a July 21, 2025, White House press briefing, asserting that he had “ended wars, like India and Pakistan.” According to her, Trump has helped free hostages held by Hamas, is actively involved in efforts to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza, and is still working to find a solution to the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

While enumerating the international challenges that President Trump has addressed, Leavitt asserted that he “ended wars, like India and Pakistan.” However, she did not provide specifics about what actions were taken, which conflict was referred to, or what concrete diplomatic breakthroughs, if any, directly resulted from US intervention under Trump concerning India and Pakistan.

The search results do not provide any supporting evidence of a recent, ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan that was ended directly as a result of President Trump’s diplomacy or mediation in 2024–2025. Although there have been occasional border skirmishes and crises, there hasn’t been a significant full-scale confrontation between the two countries since the Kargil conflict in 1999.

Leavitt signaled intense diplomatic activity but did not announce a conclusion, highlighting ongoing U.S. attempts to assist resolve the crisis in Russia and Ukraine.

Leavitt claimed that the Trump administration “obliterated Iran’s nuclear sites,” implying that significant military action was taken against Iran’s nuclear facilities. Multiple sources confirm that US strikes caused severe damage—especially to the Fordow enrichment site—while some intelligence assessments suggest only one of three targeted facilities was destroyed, leaving the two others with less substantial damage. International observers and intelligence services are still debating the magnitude of the damage.

Trump’s attempts to broker a truce between Israel and Gaza were also mentioned by Leavitt. According to her, these diplomatic efforts helped free Jewish prisoners from Gaza, and President Trump has expressed hope that more hostages will soon be freed based on ongoing US-sponsored talks between Israeli and Hamas delegations in Doha.

According to reports, after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack and the Israeli reaction, there are currently 50 hostages in Gaza, 20 of whom are thought to be alive. Trump attributed the progress in the hostage discussions to Steve Witkoff, his special envoy.

While the White House underscores Trump’s leadership in achieving breakthroughs and advancing peace, many of the administration’s claims—such as having decisively “ended wars” or “completely obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capacity—are subject to dispute or lack independent, detailed confirmation, as noted in several intelligence and news reports.

Although a hostage agreement was reached soon after Trump’s inauguration, remarks made by former Secretary of State Antony Blinken pointed out that substantial progress had already been made toward a ceasefire in the Middle East prior to Trump’s inauguration in 2025.

White House claims portray President Trump as a major force behind a number of high-profile diplomatic and military achievements, but real information and independent evaluations paint a more complex and occasionally contentious picture of his international endeavors.
