The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued advisories to Indian people who want to visit Mexico. Randhir Jaiswal, the MEA spokesperson, underlined the significance of reevaluating travel advisories because Indian nationals in Mexico are encountering more difficulties, especially with regard to safety and immigration regulations.
Citizens are being strongly advised not to travel to Mexico by the Indian Embassy in Mexico. As a result of tighter immigration controls put in place by Mexican authorities, there have been allegations of increased inspection and detentions of Indian nationals at Mexican borders.
The number of Indian migrants traveling via Mexico on their way to the US has significantly increased. More than 12,400 Indian people were found in Mexico in 2023 alone, which resulted in lengthy detentions and financial difficulties for numerous tourists.
The warning emphasizes the dangers that many travelers face, including extended detentions, restricted access to communication while in custody, and even deportation. These risks have been highlighted by earlier cases involving Indian migrants, including catastrophic occurrences connected to migration attempts.
India’s economic difficulties are a major factor in the migration boom, as many people leave the country in search of better chances outside. However, because human trafficking networks take advantage of weaker people, this trip through Mexico is dangerous and frequently expensive.
Given the possible risks, the MEA’s advise is an important cautionary tale for anyone thinking about visiting Mexico, advising people to reevaluate their plans.
