What Plans Does the Indian Army Have to Prevent Future Army Drone Hacking?

The Indian Army is taking several actions to stop army drone hacking, such as creating in-house cyber defense systems, improving drone security frameworks, and incorporating cutting-edge technology.

In order to protect drones from cyberattacks, ZUPPA Geo Navigation Technologies Pvt Ltd is negotiating with the Indian Army to implement its Suraksha Edge Monitoring Device (EMD), a cybersecurity solution. Suraksha can identify and stop illegal control attempts, notify operators, and trigger a “Return to Home” feature by monitoring the communication channels between drones and their Ground Control Stations (GCS).

To lessen reliance on imported drone systems, the Indian Army is promoting the development of domestic drones. This entails creating new weaponized MALE drones like the Archer-NG and improving the capabilities of drones like Tapas.

The private sector and the Indian Army are working together to develop sophisticated UAV systems. For instance, the Army has awarded a contract to IG Drones, an Indian drone technology company, to supply First-Person View (FPV) and Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) drones. There are no Chinese parts in these drones; they are made locally.

Radio frequency (RF) jammers, electronic countermeasure systems, and “Sky Fence” are just a few of the anti-drone technologies that the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has been actively working on. To protect against potential threats from unauthorized drone activities, the Indian military and security agencies have placed anti-drone systems at key installations and strategic locations.

In order to stay ahead of potential vulnerabilities and continuously improve the technology as cyber threats change, ZUPPA intends to launch updated versions of its EMD.

The Indian Army is incorporating drones into joint operations, prioritizing autonomous systems and real-time coordination, and putting a strong emphasis on training and adaptation.
