A multi-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha and comprising BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi is making a significant diplomatic effort to counter Pakistani narratives and present India’s position on cross-border terrorism on the international scene with this important visit to Indonesia.
The delegation’s main goals were to make explicit India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and to reveal what it claims is Pakistan’s continuous propaganda and disinformation operation.
BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi stressed the delegation’s goal to convey India’s united, nonpartisan commitment against terrorism during meetings with the Indian diaspora and important Indonesian stakeholders, especially in the aftermath of the horrific Pahalgam terror assault on April 22. Sarangi described the horrifying specifics of the attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, including women and children who saw their family members murdered. Armed terrorists attacked both tourists and locals.
She emphasized that such acts of violence are not unique but rather are a part of a recurrent pattern of cross-border terrorism, and that the perpetrators, who were allegedly supported by Pakistan, intentionally wanted to destroy peace and communal harmony in India.
Sarangi emphasized that war is not India’s preferred course and that the nation has always supported peace. However, Operation Sindoor, a military and diplomatic operation meant to destroy terror infrastructure and show India’s resolve to defend its inhabitants, was a decisive response to the Pahalgam attack’s magnitude and the intentional targeting of civilians.
The delegation emphasized that India’s response has been deliberate, strategic, and intended to maintain national security while preventing escalation, and that Pakistan’s support for terrorism is a state policy.
The delegation also discussed the repeal of Article 370, which gave Jammu and Kashmir special status, as well as the larger framework of India-Pakistan ties. According to Sarangi, the 2019 constitutional amendments that proclaimed Kashmir an essential part of India have purportedly infuriated Pakistan and prompted more attempts to destabilize the area. She maintained that Pakistan’s actions are driven by a desire to obstruct India’s advancement and to disturb the nation’s peace and stability.
The team discussed security concerns as well as India’s economic and developmental accomplishments, contrasting them with Pakistan’s present difficulties. Sarangi highlighted India’s substantial infrastructure initiatives, such as the Bharat Mala initiative, which has extended the country’s highway network, as well as its strong foreign exchange reserves and quick GDP development.
She also pointed to India’s rising position from 163rd in 2014 to 63rd in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business rating as proof of its continued progress and ability to compete globally.
Indonesian embassies, think tanks, and politicians responded favorably to the delegation’s message, denouncing terrorism in all its manifestations and expressing support with India. The ASEAN Secretary-General and Indonesian officials called for coordinated international efforts to combat terrorism and reaffirmed their support for India’s zero-tolerance policy.
As part of a broader international outreach involving several nations, the Indian delegation’s visit to Indonesia is viewed as a calculated attempt to forge international agreement against cross-border terrorism and to make sure that India’s story, supported by data and facts, is heard and comprehended everywhere.
