A delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad meets with Italian journalists in Rome.

Following its diplomatic mission in France, a high-level all-party Indian parliamentary delegation headed by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad landed in Rome, continuing the country’s attempts to engage important European allies on bilateral cooperation and counterterrorism.

The delegation, which includes Ambassador Pankaj Saran, MJ Akbar, Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena-UBT), Ghulam Ali Khatana and Amar Singh (Congress), Daggubati Purandeswari and Samik Bhattacharya (BJP), and Priyanka Chaturvedi, is entrusted with informing international stakeholders about India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and drawing attention to the larger problem of cross-border terrorism, especially that which originates in Pakistan.

The team arrived in Italy and met with Stefania Craxi, the head of the Italian Senate’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, and Giulio Tremonti, the head of the Italian Chamber of Deputies’ Committee on Foreign Affairs and European Commission, in Rome. With a focus on a unified international response to terrorism, these sessions aimed to deepen India-Italy cooperation on security issues.

In order to educate the Italian public and media about India’s counterterrorism initiatives and the proof of Pakistan’s backing for terrorist operations, the group also spoke with Italian journalists in Rome. This outreach is a component of a larger diplomatic effort to reveal the role that state players play in inciting terrorism and to win support for India’s stance abroad.

The delegation met with representatives of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense in Paris as well as the India-France Friendship Group during its previous trip to France. Senators and government representatives from France reaffirmed their support for India and agreed that democratic countries must unite in their fight against terrorism. The French side reiterated its backing for India’s counterterrorism efforts, acknowledging that terrorism poses a common danger to both international security and democratic principles.

In his reflections on the sessions, Ravi Shankar Prasad emphasized the strategic and emotional importance of the assistance from European allies. In addition to thanking his French and Italian counterparts for their solid bilateral ties and shared dedication to democratic values, he underlined the significance of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

The delegation’s continued visits to Europe highlight India’s assertive diplomatic strategy for forging anti-terrorist unity, enhancing bilateral ties, and making sure the international community stays alert and coordinated in combating transnational threats.
