According to the defence minister, India prospered when science flourished.

Rajnath Singh, the minister of defence, has emphasised how important science is to India’s economic success. In his remarks on National Science Day, he emphasised that India’s economy always prospered when it achieved scientific success. Singh pointed out that despite scientific breakthroughs, economic growth was sluggish at the time of India’s independence.

But after independence, science was essential in the Green Revolution, which revolutionised agriculture and made India self-sufficient in food production. This change signalled a dramatic change in the economy and demonstrated how science had triumphed over hunger.

The minister emphasised that by encouraging innovation, creativity, and critical thinking, the New Education Policy, 2020, seeks to revolutionise scientific education. Since these technical breakthroughs are essential to the safety and security of the country, he urged students to take advantage of the infrastructure already in place and play a leading role in them.

Singh also mentioned India’s historical contributions to science, such as the decimal system, the value of pi, and the heliocentric model of the solar system, all of which were developed by Indian academics like Aryabhatta and Bhaskaracharya.

He urged the young people to cultivate a scientific mindset and support India’s leadership in the world. India can overcome sociological and economic obstacles and develop its skills in a variety of industries, including heavy machinery, textiles, and medicines, by embracing science and technology.
