Admiral R Hari Kumar, the Chief of Naval Staff, stated on Sunday that the foreign-flagged ship, which had seventeen Indians on board, was on its way to an Indian port after passing through the Strait of Hormuz when troops arrived by helicopter and boarded it.

In response to a question from reporters, the admiral called the situation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden “fragile” and stated that the Indian Navy has continued to monitor the region.

Admiral Kumar went on to say that the Bharatiya Nausena has a very clear stance. “The Indian Ocean is our area and we will take whatever action is required to keep it safe and secured.”
