Airbus A320 Getting Overhauled At HAL’s Nashik Facility

By entering the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of civilian aircraft at its plant in Ozar, Nashik, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has started a major diversification. In a significant development for India’s aviation industry, HAL, which had previously concentrated on defense aircraft such as the Sukhoi Su-30MKI, has now broadened its scope of competence to include the Airbus A320 series.

This project comes after a collaboration with Airbus was formed in November 2023 to build a specific “C-check” MRO facility for A320 aircraft. In order to guarantee adherence to the requirements of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Airbus is providing technical material, tools, and consulting services.

There will be substantial financial gains from this foray into maintaining private airplanes. According to Manish Rawal, vice-president of the Nashik Industries & Manufacturers Association (NIMA), this action would boost employment in the area and open up new prospects for suppliers of aircraft spare components.

.

After receiving EASA permission, the Nashik MRO facility is anticipated to service not just Indian airlines but also maybe as a hub for the Asian area.

.This move is in line with India’s “Make-in-India” campaign and embodies HAL’s goal of developing into a comprehensive MRO center for the defense and commercial aviation industries. HAL will be able to serve the country’s aviation ecosystem and meet India’s increasing demand for MRO services by utilizing its cooperation with Airbus and strengthening its capabilities.
