In Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) seriously wounded an Army Jawan. Terrorists are accused of planting the blast, which took place in the Degwar sector’s Bagyaldara region. This incident brings to light the region’s persistent security issues, especially in light of enhanced security forces’ IED recoveries and increased awareness.
According to early reports, the disaster, which occurred on March 24, 2025, may have been an unintentional mine explosion. The incident’s circumstances are presently being looked into by security agencies. Notably, this explosion comes after a recent operation by the Jammu and Kashmir police and the Army’s Romeo Force that recovered a sizable stockpile of weapons, ammunition, and drugs from a hideaway in Sangla village.
Just hours before the explosion, security services had imposed a high alert throughout Jammu and Kashmir due to growing terror threats. According to intelligence estimates, there are more than 100 active terrorists in the area right now, many of whom are foreign agents. while warmer weather approaches, there are worries about possible infiltration attempts while the situation stays tight due to intermittent clashes between security personnel and terrorists.
