At the Turkey Summit, India chastises the OIC for remarks motivated by Pakistan.

India strongly criticized the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for remarks made at its recent foreign ministry session in Turkey that New Delhi called “unwarranted” and “factually incorrect.”

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India said that Pakistan had a significant influence on these statements, accusing Islamabad of utilizing the OIC platform to further its own political goals and of using terrorism as a tool of state policy.

India further denied Pakistan’s claims of “unprovoked and unjustified military aggression,” stating that its Operation Sindoor, which was carried out in reaction to the terror attack in Pahalgam, was a precise and lawful act of self-defense that targeted terrorist camps that were based in Pakistan. Pakistan’s retaliatory actions were deemed reckless by the MEA, which also pointed out that they caused injuries among civilians and endangered civilian lives.

The hypocrisy of Pakistan, a nation with a “poor human rights record and a history of sheltering and empowering terrorists,” to try to educate others on human rights and counterterrorism was also brought up by India. Pakistan’s efforts at the OIC were described by the MEA as a last-ditch attempt to deflect attention away from its own history of sectarian violence, minority persecution, state-sponsored terrorism, and poor governance.

India’s response demonstrates its opposition to outside comments on its internal issues, particularly from sites it feels are being used by Pakistan for political ends. The MEA also cautioned that if the OIC keeps letting special interests take control of its agenda, it could jeopardize its legitimacy and relevance.
