BEFORE PM MODI’S VISIT, THE US AND INDIA WERE WORKING ON A JET ENGINE DEAL: US REPUBLICAN RO KHANNA

World News

Congressman RO Khanna stated the US wants to ensure the GE Engines contract with India is completed so they don’t lose out to Europe in an interview with ANI on the sidelines of his speech at the India-US Business Summit.

According to Congressman Khanna, India has shown a genuine interest in forging close ties with the United States after realizing that Soviet military hardware isn’t as effective and the Soviet Union is going toward China.

He continued, “And the first thing is to make sure that deal gets done, hopefully before the Prime Minister’s (Narendra Modi) visit.” He stated that India wanted jet engines. And we are attempting to do that.

“We are also making efforts to make sure the Prime Minister has the opportunity to address the US Congress. The speaker will be asked by the co-chairs to extend that invitation, he continued.

This is a crucial time, and we need to strengthen our defense, he said.

He continued, “The defence deliverable on the jet engines is critical.”

On the commercial and economic relations between the two nations, he added, “Continuous effort is required. India may end up serving as Asia’s regional market hub, in my opinion. Businesses in my neighborhood, such as Apple, are leaving China and relocating to Bangalore in India to open Apple stores. I have urged businesses to manufacture in the United States and import goods back into the country, but if they must sell to customers in Asia, they should go to partners like India rather than China.

“In order for India to develop, we need to figure out how to give them access to affordable alternative energy sources. And I’ve valued India’s strong condemnation of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, but this shouldn’t stand in the way of forging a long-lasting partnership, he continued.
