In Cairo, Egypt, the Al-Hakim Mosque is a notable historical and cultural landmark from the 11th century. The mosque is a symbol of the rich cultural legacy that Egypt and India share.

The amazing renovation of the Al-Hakim mosque, made possible by the Dawoodi Bohra community’s persistent commitment and assistance, gives the PM’s visit even more significance.

With its long history, the Al-Hakim mosque stands as a testament to the religious and historical significance of the blending of Indian and Egyptian civilizations.

PM Modi, who arrived in Cairo on Saturday, paid respects to the Indian soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice during the First World War at Heliopolis War Cemetery after visiting the Al-Hakim Mosque.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Prime Minister and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo, Egypt, later today.

PM Modi received the Order of the Nile, Egypt’s highest state accolade, while he visited there. This is the thirteenth time that PM Modi has received such a high state accolade, and it is a source of pride for India. PM Modi has won numerous international honours during the last nine years of his administration, including the Ebakl Award from the Republic of Palau, the Companion of the Order of Logohu, and the Companion of the Order of Fiji.

From June 24 to 25, PM Modi will be in Egypt on a state visit.

President El-Sisi’s attendance as the Chief Guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations earlier this year prompted PM Modi to pay a reciprocal visit to Egypt. President El-Sisi’s visit to India was very productive, and it resulted in an agreement between the two countries to upgrade their ties to that of a strategic partnership.

In Cairo on Saturday, PM Modi and his Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly participated in a roundtable discussion.

The prime minister was greeted enthusiastically and met with chants of “Vande Mataram” and “Modi Modi” when he arrived at a hotel in Cairo after landing in Egypt.

The Indian diaspora demonstrated its enthusiasm by singing “Modi Modi” and “Vande Mataram” and waving the Tricolour. There were a lot of kids in the diaspora as well. To welcome PM Modi, a lot of people performed cultural shows and sung Indian music.
